LinkedIn Launches Military Skills Translator

Translating military experience for civilian employers has gotten complicated with all the different job code systems flying around. Good news—LinkedIn just rolled out a new feature specifically designed to help.

LinkedIn for veterans
LinkedIn continues to improve veteran job matching

The new Military Skills Translator tool automatically converts your military job codes and experience into civilian terminology that recruiters understand.

How the New Feature Works

Probably should have led with this section, honestly. Go to your LinkedIn profile, click Edit, and select the new Military Experience section. Enter your MOS, rate, or AFSC, and LinkedIn will suggest civilian job titles and skills that match your background.

Finding Veteran-Friendly Employers

That’s what makes this feature endearing to us veterans—the tool also flags companies that have signed the Hiring Our Heroes pledge, making it easier to find employers actively recruiting veterans.

Premium vs Free Features

The feature is available now for all LinkedIn members. Premium subscribers get additional matching with recruiters who specialize in veteran placement.

Update your profile today to take advantage of this new tool before the end-of-year hiring surge.
